I have had the monster of debt on my back for years. I too learned early that money could buy me "fun" things, that purchasing made me feel grownup and accepted (and acceptable), and that if I had a bad day (month or year) there was nothing a trip to the mall with my Visa couldn't fix. I am learning that if there are holes that need filled, stuff isn't going to fill them. For me personally, God is filling those needs quite sufficiently.
